Serena Williams breaks yet another record. For her outburst, a record $82,500 fine has been imposed on the current World Number 1. The 23 Grand Slam titles winner Serena Jameka Williams couldn’t control her temper at the US Open this year and now she’s on probation too.

Another misdemeanor and she would be suspended from the tournament! The picture seems to be very gloomy for the 28-year-old American professional tennis player that currently holds the World No.1 position. Serena Williams has been fined a sum of as much as $82,500 for her harangue during her 2009 US Open semi-final against Kim Clijsters.

Attached herewith is a YouTube video that reveals an extremely furious Serena Williams addressing a lineswoman over a foot-fault issue. Though her words are not audible in a noisy atmosphere yet the invective was good enough for the lineswoman to launch a complaint to the mach referee against Serena.

The unpleasant moment came during the third set of the famous semi-final being played at the Flushing Meadows between Williams and Kim Clijsters and her slip of tongue turned out to be a magical moment for Kim; one-point penalty provided Kim an opportunity to snatch the game from Williams, the defending champion.

The fine imposed upon Serena happens to be the highest ever on a grand slam offence, as previously a $48,000 fine was imposed on Jeff Tarango alongside his suspension for one year from the Wimbledon. The problem for Serena is that $82,500 fine would turn into $175,000 in case she repeats the event at any major championship. In other words; she’s under probation for the upcoming 2010 and 2011 grand slam tournaments.

According to Associated Press, the fine has been imposed by Bill Babcock, the grand slam administrator and while talking to the press, Bill also confirmed that the amount of fine would increase alongside the possibility of Serena being suspended from the following US Open too.
