School closings for Lafourche Parish due to Hurricane Ida announced. All the Lafourche Parish as well as the private schools will be closed Monday. State of Emergency has already been declared by Governor Bobby Jindal in the Ida-hit Louisiana vicinity. Hurricane Ida is closing in on the country’s south east now.

With evident threats of ‘Ida,’ the first Atlantic hurricane of the season in the United States, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal considered it appropriate to declare a State of Emergency earlier when the news of Hurricane Ida approaching the Gulf Coast. And as the Lafourche Parish Government had a constant monitoring on the storm that’s likely to cause extremely windy conditions and several inches of rain, predicted that the next at least 48 hours would be crucial.

Thus the declaration of state of an emergency is followed by a unanimous decision by Lafourche Parish President Charlotte Randolph and Jo Ann Matthews Lafourche Parish Schools Superintendent; Monday will be observed as a school closure and all the Lafourche Parish schools alongside all the private schools will remain closed. However, all the concerned school officials would be bound to report as usual.

Another announcement regarding the closure of the 17th Judicial District Court System of the same area suggests that it will also remain closed tomorrow. Few of the schools are Escambia County, Baldwin, Mobile, Bayside Academy and Jubilee Christian Academy etc. Ida, now a Category 2 storm, is reported to have sustained winds up to 105 mph.

Despite the forecast and expectations of Hurricane Ida weakening by tomorrow, the tropical storm is now being watched with more concern across areas of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and northern Florida whereas still recovering from Hurricane Katrina 4 years back, New Orleans is also feared to be engulfed by Ida.
