56-year-old Paul Edward Haggis is a member of Church of Scientology not anymore. The Canadian-American Paul Edward Haggis has resigned his membership with Church of Scientology over their controversially supporting an anti-gay ballot issue.

A very popular Canadian-American producer and film director, who also used to be a screenwriter Paul Edward Haggis, has been reported to pull his name from the prestigious members list of the Church of Scientology that includes many of the Hollywood icons. The reason behind his sudden decision of resigning and giving up a 35-years-long membership is being described as the Scientology Church’s controversial backing and sponsoring an anti-gay opinion poll Proposition 8, by their San Diego branch.

Paul Haggis has addressed ex-Scientologist Marty Rathbun through a very provoking and somewhat insulting letter and it has been published online, originally on the blog of Marty and directed to Tommy Davis, the current national spokesman for Scientology Church. Haggis has provided all the details about the maltreatment and cover-ups he claims to be the reason for his resigning.

Haggis has pointed out to Tommy that he didn’t do anything following Church’s support against anti-gay proposition. He then mentions his continuous writing to him for taking notice and making a public statement regarding disapproving the Church’s San Diego branch’s actions. It seems that Haggis is more than angry for not condemning the church’s supportive movements therefore, he clearly writes about leaving the organization for tolerating gay-thumping.

The whole text of the letter is not being reproduced here rather the effort is to only give the readers an idea that how Paul Haggis is reprimanded Tommy for his alleged cowardly behavior as he states at a later stage of the writing, “I was promised action by you but nothing has been done even after ten months.” He further speaks, “The Church’s denial regarding denouncing their actions of those charlatan and homophobes shows their cowardly approach.”
