Obama’s speech on Internet rights makes a girl in red coat yet another Internet celebrity overnight. Wang Zifei is under the China Media Buzz even a week after Obama left China. They’re calling her ‘Obama Girl’ since she’s been noticed taking off her red coat, sitting right behind Obama.
Just a small act in slow motion, seems to have changed the life of a college student completely. Her name is Wang Zifei and she’s studying business management at Shanghai Jiaotong University. She’s been the centre of focus and latest target of both the Chinese media as well as millions of Internet users since she was seen sitting behind the U.S. President Barack Obama.
While Obama was on a visit to China earlier this month to deliver his views over the Internet Rights, the media people showed keen interest in Wang Zifei that was seated on the chairs right behind Obama. As soon as she noticeably took her red coat off in a bit of slow motion and unveiled her black dress, the spotlight started following her every motion then onwards.
A countless snaps were taken without even her knowing, as per her subsequent claims, and everybody started talking about her. Poor Wang Zifei is trying her best to convince the world that she didn’t court the attention by saying after all, what would bring the President Obama bring to her? Feeling really sick, she appealed to the netizens and the cybercitizens not to consider her act an attempt to derive the media attention. Though she has hosted some music shows in her youth and been on the cameras before, yet she intends not to gain popularity this way at all.
