The son of Reg and Maggie Green, Nicholas Green is all set to be remembered at Rose Parade float for being one of the remarkable deceased donors. He was a young boy of just seven years. He was American; born on 9 September, 1987.

Nicholas Green was murdered in Italy when he was on a visit with his family. Highway robbers killed 7-year-old Nicholas Green while they were trying to capture the automobile from his family. His parents decided to give his organs to the persons who need organs. Seven Italians were rescued by the donation of his organs. Two Italians, who were blinds, obtained his eyes.

There was a time when the donation of organs was really exceptional in Italy, but after the incident of Nicholas’ death, “Organs Donation” came into the tradition. Now, Italy is on the second spot for “Organs Donation” all over the Europe. Spain is the country which is at the first point in this donation system.

The book “Nicholas Effect” was written by his father Mr. Reg. This book got huge sales in 1999 both in Italy and United States. This book has been translated in many languages which made it a “Universal Book.” Famous television movie “Nicholas Gift” is originated from the incident of Nicholas’ death. Italian hospitals, roads, streets, educational institutes and bridges are named “Nicholas.”

Nicholas Green Foundation also added his name with a scholarship program. World Transplant Games Federation has been celebrating “Nicholas Cup” since 2001. In 2001, this competition was held in Switzerland; in 2003 it was held in Italy, in 2005 it was there in Poland and in 2008 it was celebrated in Arctic Circle. To present a tribute to Nicholas Green, a Car Relay under the title “Providian Relay” is held every year in Northern California.
