62-year-old Dennis LeRoy Anderson, who smashed his motorized lazy boy into a car in 2008, pleaded guilty and was arrested. Dennis LeRoy Anderson of Proctor, drove a La-Z-Boy chair while highly intoxicated on Aug. 31, 2008 and ended up with his La-Z-Boy chair locked away and his driver’s license revoked.
An old man from Proctor, Minnesota, Dennis LeRoy Anderson who’s an auto body repair worker, has been reportedly sent to jail for as many as 180 days (six months) on Monday and he’ll spend the time either in St. Louis County Jail or in the Northeast Regional Corrections Center. He’s also imposed a fine of $2,000 In addition to his imprisonment.
On the night of August 31, 2008, it must have taught a lifetime lesson to Dennis Anderson that technology is a blessing and it should be treated so otherwise there’s no guarantee where he ends up next time. He decided to taka ride on his La-Z-Boy chair that carried a stereo and cup-holders along with a complete driving ‘capability’ like any ordinary rather traditional vehicle but he forgot one thing; he was extremely drunk and had as much of blood-alcohol content as 0.29 percent that’s almost three times more than a normal drunk driver.
Dennis managed to take a successful round of Keyboard Lounge but then the things got out of control for a man who (later admitted to) had had 8 beers prior to leaving the bar and his mini-car smashed into a vehicle (Dodge Intrepid) parked in the parking lot, luckily leaving him with nominal injuries. Troy Foucault the Deputy Police Chief Minnesota, described that the chair has got a converted gasoline engine used in lawnmowers and is also equipped with all necessary characteristics such as a steering wheel, headlights as well as an external power antenna with a remarkable speed of up to 20 m/p hour.
It has been reported that the jail time and half of the fine amount i.e. $1000 were poised for a probation of two years (under supervision) whereas conditions of chemical-dependency assessment and random testing also apply.
