Michael Scott, the president of Chicago Public Schools and Chicago Board of Education, allegedly shot himself Monday morning. According to the reports Michael Scott’s body was found floating in the Chicago River.
In the early hours on Monday morning, the police authorities discovered a body floating on the surface of Chicago River close to the Merchandise Mart. Police believed that the body was of that Chicago School Board President Michael W. Scott who was reported missing from his home since Sunday, November 15, 2009; and they were very right.
Michael W. Scott’s family had been searching for him since he left his Monroe police district (West Side) Chicago house on Sunday. According to a ‘Tribune’ report, police located the body of Scott using his cell phone, found near his Cadillac alongside a gun they claim Scott used to shoot himself.
It was hard for the family and friends to believe and digest the news of Scott’s tragic death. One of his friends for over two decades Rev. Jesse Jackson was at the death scene though but it has not been confirmed whether he identified the body. Similarly, the Cook County Medical Examiner Office though confirmed the news of recovery of a man’s body, a car and a gun yet they declared it as an unidentified body.
However, Cook County Board President Todd H. Stroger later issued a statement on Monday through an e-mail that suggests that he, alongside his wife delivered his condolences for the family of Michael Scott over his death. Amina Greer a Police News Affairs Officer confirmed that the call came at around 3:15 a.m. and subsequently, the body was retrieved at 4:30 a.m. early morning.
