The CNN reports that the suspect of Fort Hood shooting is not killed. Earlier reports said that gunman Major Malik Nadal Hasan who killed 12 and injured 31 on Thursday, was shot down at the scene. CNN has also quoted few witnesses to the Fort Hood shooting.
According to the CNN news the main character of Thursday shooting spree, 39-year-old Major Malik Nadal Hasan is not dead as the earlier reports claimed. Though one of the senior civilian officers who also got wounded during the blind and aimless firing by the suspect had a shot on him, but Nadal didn’t die. This was also reported to the CNN by Army Lt. Gen. Robert Cone, that the suspect was in custody and in stable condition, though wounded.
Last day’s incident at world’s largest Army base at Texas whereby 12 persons (10 soldiers and 2 civilians) lost their lives, looked like a reminder of the deadliest shooting spree in the American history. It happened at a Luby Cafeteria when a person named George Hennard killed himself but not before killing 23 people and wounding at least 20. Hennard had smashed his truck into the cafeteria before he started shooting.
CNN further reports that a golfer, who is a senior office, witnessed the Thursday incident while playing near the Army installation where it occurred. He said one of the two suspects was arrested by the MPs with hands in the air and that more than 30 MP vehicles had gathered there. The person whom they kept under custody for around 25 minutes was supposedly an ally to the shooter. However, he was released later.
Major Malik Nadal hasan has been reported a U.S. citizen and a Virginia Tech graduate. He served at Walter Reed Army Medical Center prior to his job at Fort Hood Readiness Facility. He was very upset upon his proposed deployment in either Iraq or Afghanistan; according to his close ones.
