Most of the people don’t know who Donna Yaklich is and where is she now. Presently she’s at halfway house since 2006. 50-year-old Donna Yaklich was arrested in 1985 on Dennis Yaklich murder charges but now she’s to be released after 24-Year Prison Term. She has a job at a nonprofit in the Denver community.
A Pueblo resident Donna Yaklich caught media attention in the year 1985 when she was convicted of acquiring the ‘outside’ help to get rid of her husband Dennis Yaklich. At present, Donna is back-counting at a halfway house where she was sent in 2006.
Why she’s doing so? Because finally after serving her term in the jail for as many as 24 years, she’s going to be released this time. The Arapahoe County Community Corrections Board denied her request for parole earlier in 2006 and she was moved in the halfway house instead. Thus, she was forced to wait for three more years. Things turned easier for Donna this time as according to Bill Thiebaut the Pueblo district attorney, she was offered no opposition rather full support from seven family members and close ones.
Donna Yaklich was in her 30s when she was arrested and sentenced to 40 years in prison. On December 12, 1985 her husband Dennis Yaklich a weightlifter and a policeman, was ambushed while in the driveway at the family home. The subsequent investigations revealed Donna’s conspiracy that led to her arrest.
As a matter of fact, two real brothers Charles (16) and Edward Greenwell (25) were also arrested whom Donna had hired for killing Dennis worth $45,000. Both received 20 and 30 years prison sentence, respectively. Donna alleged that Dennis used to abuse and beat her and added that she was afraid he would even kill her.
It is also likely that 1977 death case of 35-year-old Barbara Yaklick, Dennis Yaklich’s wife prior to Donna, may also be reopened as a state task force is reported to be working on theses grounds. Donna is of the opinion that Barbara’s death was not due to a diet drug overdose; rather there would have been a foul play on part of Dennis.
