Brooks and Dunn duo that made headlines with their break up in August were also among the Country Music Association’s 43rd Annual CMA Awards 2009. Brooks and Dunn alongside Reba McEntire were nominated for the category Musical Event of the Year.
On the gracious occasion of the Country Music Association’s 43rd Annual CMA Awards 2009 on Wednesday November 11, 2009 the audience watched and welcomed two famous characters enthusiastically whom the music lovers would never forget; 54-year-old Kix Brooks and 56-year-old Ronnie Dunn. The duo ruled the music industry for nearly two decades until on August 11, 2009, the pair decided to split.
Among the nominees of category ‘the musical event of the year’ at Annual CMA Awards, were also Brooks & Dunn along with Reba McEntire, for one of their smack presentations “Cowgirls Don’t Cry.” The duo has already announced that a 2010 farewell tour would be their last one as a team. However, the dates for the same have not been finalized as yet.
The fans were disappointed later when, after 2 CMAs winner Lady Antebellum was there with her awards and the group requested Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn to honor the stage and say something for the sake of their loyal fans; the duo declined the offer and didn’t turn up. Ah! Good old days when the music wouldn’t be complete without these two names in the list. The stats tell that till this day, the duo has sold as many as 22.3 millions of albums in the U.S. alone.
The Wednesday night belonged to Taylor Swift as the kid won the Country Music Association’s Entertainer of the Year Award, being the youngest female ever to do so over nearly last ten years. She just wrapped up the show by winning all four Awards she was a nominee for.
