Andrews AFB

Andrews Air Force Base is a United States Air Force Base. Andrews Air Force Base is named after Gen. Frank M. Andrews, killed on May 3, 1943. In 1963, the Naval Air Facility (NAF), moved to Andrews. Andrews AFB has evolved to become one of the most modern bases in the Air Force.

The T-33 (a version of the F-80), still played an important role in proficiency flying programs at Andrews more than 30 years later. Later in June 1950, in Korean War, Andrews became involved in combat readiness training for B-25. In the late 1950s Andrews began an annual open house and air show on base.
